Shine 2025 Open Call for Artists

Calling all UK-based emerging artists with new light artwork ideas.
“Light Up The North are commissioning £18,000 for up to two artists/collectives for our 2025 programme. Exhibit your work at 4-5 incredible light festivals including: Lightpool Blackpool, Light Night Leeds, BD is LiT (Bradford), Barnsley Bright Nights, Light Up Wakefield, Nightfall Middlesbrough, Lightwaves Salford, Illuminate Oldham and Colliderfest (Hull).”

Opened Ground: a creative tribute to Seamus Heaney
9th May, 7-10.30pm, £10
The Basement @ City Screen Picturehouse
Local and regional poets and performers present an inspiring evening of works written and influenced by the great Irish writer, featuring readings, music, original writing and interpretive performances.
This celebratory show is curated by the exciting young York poet OLIVER LEWIS, for whom Heaney is a much loved touchstone. Navigators are proud and delighted to help him achieve a long-held ambition.
Micklegate Arts Trail
31st May, 12- 5pm, free - no booking required
20 Micklegate businesses choose work from 80+ local and regional artists to display in windows, shops, pub and restaurants, and once again there will be a show of remarkable 3D work in Holy Trinity church. Exciting new artists can be seen along with more familiar names.
A visitors' map will be available from various outlets. Please note that businesses open and close at different times.
Memoirs of a P.O.W Play
