There’s no Creative Drinks this month as we’re taking a short break, but we do have Liv Surtees giving a workshop on An Introduction To Content Marketing Thursday 11th January, 6pm to 7pm.
This workshop is for anyone wanting to discover new ways to get paid for your creativity.

We’re looking for a York Creatives board member for Music.
Responsibilities include:
• Attending 3 board meetings per year (held on Wednesday afternoons)
• Attending our events where possible and meeting community members
• Moderating the discussion in your discipline on our online forum

Funding opportunity: Jerwood Foundation
From 1st January 2024, Jerwood Arts will formally merge with Jerwood Charity, establishing the Jerwood Foundation and setting out new funding plans for the coming years.
Up to £2 million of grants will be issued each year, with the first awards set to be made in April 2024 and applications opening from January.
In keeping with John Jerwood’s original philanthropic vision, the charity will support excellence and emerging talent in the arts and crafts in the UK, and funding will be available to Arts organisations of all kinds from across the UK.

The final festivity, when lords become servants, beggars rule and convention goes to the dogs. Summon the Green Man! Hail the Lord of Misrule!
Devised by Navigators Art, the evening will feature verse, poetry, story and song from a range of artists including Cai Moriarty, Wire Worms, Thomas Pearson, Adderstone, and local legends White Sail.

Creative UK is inviting individuals to apply to join the newly established Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Group (EDIAG).
The purpose of the group is to provide expert advice and guidance to Creative UK on their approach to supporting and improving equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across their programmes of activity.

The York One Day Book Fair

Discover over 100 booksellers offering for sale a wide selection of books from various genres, including fiction, non-fiction, children's literature, second hand and rare books, maps and ephemera to suit everyone from the first time visitor to avid book collectors.
The York One Day Book Fair is the smaller parallel event of the York National Book Fair held annually in September.
A free shuttle bus will run between the Racecourse and Station Road, and refreshments will be available to purchase throughout the day.
Funding Opportunity: Youth Music NextGen Fund
Deadline for applications Friday 19th January
Open to applicants living in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland
There is no application fee
Youth Music recently announced the opening of the latest round of the NextGen Fund. The Fund is for early-stage musicians and wider music adjacent creatives to invest up to £2,500 in their own projects and make their ideas happen. The fund is especially aimed at those whose lack of finance holds them back from pursuing their goals.
It's open to 18–25-year-olds (and up to 30-year-olds who identify as d/Deaf or Disabled) who live in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. Full eligibility criteria and applicant guidance can be found at the link below.
Online Presentation: Art in Action

This online, open access session, led by East Hampton Library, will include a presentation, looking at how action painters including Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner express movement in their ground breaking abstract expressionist works.
After the presentation, there will be a virtual tour of the barn studio where Pollock and Krasner created their masterpieces and a workshop, giving attendees the chance to create their own action paintings.
Pre-booking is essential and zoom links will be sent out to attendees 15 minutes prior to the session start time.
ACT Research Seminar: Digital Feudalism - Creators, Credit, Consumption and Capitalism

The ACT Research Seminars, hosted by University of York, are free to attend both online and in person and are open to staff, students, and the general public.
David Arditi of University of Texas at Arlington will lead this seminar, exploring digital feudalism as a new moment in capitalism and how reliant global economies have become on these processes of consumption, work, and debt.
